At its Eleventh Extraordinary Summit in November 2018, the African Union (AU) Assembly established a new structure and process for selecting the Senior Leadership of the African Union Commission (AUC). The Assembly appointed a Panel of Eminent Africans from different regions, including Amb. Philemon Yang (Cameroon) for Central Africa, Amb. Kongit Sinegiorgis (Ethiopia) for East Africa, Amb. Tuliameni Kalomoh (Namibia) for Southern Africa, and Hon. Hassan Bubacar Jallow (The Gambia) for West Africa.
