Report of the Extraordinary Session of the 4th Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science and Technology (STC-EST4)

Abstract

An Extra-Ordinary Session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science and Technology (STC-EST 4) took place virtually from October 18th to 19th, 2023, in accordance with rule 12 of the STC-EST. A ministerial meeting was held to review and approve the roadmap for the AU Theme of the Year 2024, "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa." The meeting endorsed the roadmap, the Experts' meeting report, and the draft decisions regarding the Theme of the Year. Before the meeting commenced, the Legal Counsel referred to Rule 38 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, noting that 7 Member States under sanctions were unable to participate.
