The African Union Commission's current senior leadership members were elected in 2021 for a four-year term that ends in February 2025. The pre-selection process is overseen by a Panel of distinguished Africans, which consists of five distinguished people from each region area. The Panel pre-selects applicants and is helped by an independent African consultant group. The Panel creates job profiles and competence standards for senior leadership, which include generic leadership abilities as well as specialist and theme skills in specialized portfolios. The Commission asked regional deans to organize regional consultations and designate one member per area by November 30, 2023. The Central Region nomination submission deadline has been extended to December 30, 2023en
