This report outlines the proceedings of the sixth ordinary session of the conference of African Ministers of Information, held in Abuja, Nigeria, from April 24-25, 1992. The Federal Republic of Nigeria hosted the session, which brought together 38 delegations, as well as various African governmental and non-governmental institutions, and regional and international organizations. The conference focused on the critical issues of salvaging the Pan-African News Agency (PANA) and restructuring of the African media institutions to optimize expenditure and enhance coordination. A key outcome of the session was the unanimous adoption of a recovery plan for PANA, presented by UNESCO at the request of PANA's management.en
