Report of the Secretary-General on the Third Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Maritime Transport

Abstract

This report summarizes the proceedings of the third conference of African Ministers responsible for maritime transport, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from December 13 to 15, 1993. This conference was preceded by a preparatory meeting of experts, focusing on the evaluation of maritime transport in Africa and its future prospects. Key outcomes include the discussion and adoption of the African Charter on Maritime Transport, a standard format for harmonizing national maritime legislation, and minimum common principles for member states.
