Council of Ministers Sixty-second Ordinary Session 21-23 June, 1995 Addis Ababa, Ethiopiaen
The report by the Secretary-General on the financial situation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) as of 30 April 1995 highlights critical financial challenges linked to substantial arrears in Member States’ contributions to the OAU regular budget. Despite an approved budget of US$29.5 million for the 1994/95 financial year, only 35% of assessed contributions had been paid by 14 Member States, leaving 65% unpaid and causing significant operational difficulties. Total unpaid arrears amounted to over US$62 million as of April 1995. While some progress was noted in payments compared to previous years, large outstanding balances persisted, jeopardizing the organization's effective functioning and mission.en
