Executive Council Forty-Seventh Ordinary Session 9 June to 11 July 2025 Malabo, Equatorial Guineaen
This report outlines the nomination and appointment process of Professor Babacar Kanté (Senegal) to the 6th Panel of the Wise, representing the Western Africa region. The Panel of the Wise, a key pillar of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), supports conflict prevention through advisory roles, quiet diplomacy, and mediation. Following the conclusion of the 5th Panel’s mandate in February 2025, the Assembly reappointed three members from Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa. Due to pending consensus in Western and Northern Africa, the Executive Council was delegated authority to finalize the appointments.en
