Report of the commission on the situation in Palestine and the Middle East

Abstract

The African Union reaffirms its solidarity with the Palestinian people's right to freedom and the establishment of an independent state, and believes that a just and comprehensive peace is the strategic choice to end the Israeli occupation of the entire occupied Palestinian and Arab territories until the June 4, 1967 line, so as to ensure restoration of peace and security in the region. The establishment of an independent and sovereign State with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of the Palestinian refugees to their lands and homes from which they were expelled, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
