Abstract

This is a report by the Administrative Secretary-General on the proceedings of the extraordinary meeting of the OAU Ad Hoc Committee on Drought and other Natural Disasters which was held in Banjul, Gambia from 21-23 March 1978 to discuss the difficult situations of some OAU Member States, created by the brutal re-appearance of drought in the countries of the Sahel, including the Democratic Republic of Guinea and Guinea Bissau, and the recent damages caused by the Georgia Tropical Cyclone in Madagascar and the recent damages caused by depredators in the Sahel and countries along the Red Sea, as well as the deliberations and main recommendations adopted in this meeting.
