The Co-Chair announced that a new structure for the AU Commission was adopted in 2020 as part of institutional reform priorities. The implementation of this structure is guided by Decision 1097, which includes a phased upgrade to the transition plan and financing strategy. As a result, the recruitment of senior management and critical positions for various AU bodies begun under the SACA framework. The Co-Chair highlighted that the implementation of SACA aims to establish a competent and effective institution to facilitate the delivery of continental priorities, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness rather than just costs.
