Heads of State and Government of the African Union recognize the need to supplement the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights through special protocols. They draw inspiration from the International Human Rights documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and emphasizing the right to nationality without arbitrary deprivation.
