In his role as the COVID-19 Champion designated by the African Union (AU), H.E. President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa presented a comprehensive report at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government,the report underscores President Ramaphosa's leadership in the AU's COVID-19 response strategy, as mandated by key AU decisions. The focus of the report is to enhance the Champion's mandate to encompass Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (PPPR) and to formulate a Common Africa Position (CAP) on PPPRR. The report further highlights the initiation of the Johannesburg Process, serving as a platform for discussions on ensuring fair access to medical resources and providing essential support for negotiations concerning Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.
