Accelerating the activation of the African Investment Bank to provide Sustainable Financing for Education Development in Africa (Item proposed by the State of Libya)

Abstract

The African Union Summit in February from 17th to 18th , 2024 in Addis Ababa, focused on the "Education." Theme. This choice underscored the crucial role of education in driving sustainable development in Africa. The education sector in Africa faces significant hurdles, primarily stemming from insufficient funding which has resulted in inadequate educational infrastructure and compromised learning environments. The scarcity of human resources and low education quality further compound these challenges. During the Thirty-Seventh Session Summit of the African Union, leaders prioritized strategies to enhance the education sector in Africa, with key emphasis on securing sustainable financing to bolster educational infrastructure development.
