Abstract

This report by the Secretary General addresses the implementation of two significant resolutions by the Council of Ministers: CM/Res 1153 (XLVIII), concerning the dumping of nuclear and industrial wastes in Africa, and CM/Res 1199 (XLIX), which pertains to the Global Convention for the Control of Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes presented during the Council of Ministers' Fiftieth Ordinary Session from July 17 to 21, 1989, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the report evaluates progress, challenges, and collaborative efforts among member states to mitigate hazardous waste issues, emphasizing the need for stringent regulations and sustainable practices to protect the African environment.
