Draft African Union Convention on ending Violence against Women and Girls

Abstract

The draft of the African Union convention on ending violence against women and girls to establish a comprehensive legal framework to combat all forms of violence against women and girls across the continent. Recognizing the pervasive nature of gender-based violence as a violation of human rights and a barrier to gender equality, the convention seeks to promote and protect the rights of women and girls in Africa.
