Report of the Secretary General On Africa`s Tropical Forests: OAU`s Call for Action

Abstract

This report provides an overview of the current economic and environmental status of Africa's tropical forests and assesses the level of understanding humans have on the ecosystems. The report summarizes the objectives outlined in the Lagos Plan of Action related to forest management and offers general recommendations for international actions to ensure the sustainable use of these forests. These recommendations are framed within the context of fostering active inter-African cooperation for sustainable development in an ecologically healthy environment.
