This report outlines a collaborative initiative between the Organization of African Unity (OAU) General Secretariat and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to recognize outstanding African inventors. The initiative will award "Gold Medals" to individuals demonstrating exceptional innovation in key developmental areas, with a preference for healthcare, food technology, and energy. To be eligible, inventions must be recent, specifically not predating January 1, 1986. This contest aims to acknowledge and encourage African ingenuity in critical sectors.
