Report of the Twentieth Ordinary Session of the Permanent Steering Committee of the OAU

Abstract

This report outlines the key preparatory meetings that paved the way for the establishment of the African Economic Community, culminating into a pivotal ministerial session. It highlights the twentieth session of the experts of the Permanent Steering Committee (April 17-20, 1990) and the Meeting of the Drafting Committee of the Whole (June 11-16, 1990), focused on the third and final reading of the Draft Treaty Establishing the African Economic Community. These efforts culminated in the twentieth ordinary session of the OAU Permanent Steering Committee, held at the ministerial level on July 3, 1990, in Addis Ababa.
