Report of the Secretary-General on the Preparation for a Regional Conference on Bio-Technologies in Africa

Abstract

Biotechnology possesses significant potential to tackle key challenges confronting African communities in sectors such as agriculture, food security, industry, health, and medicine. However, despite its crucial importance, the OAU General Secretariat has not sufficiently engaged with this scientific advancement, and the subject has not been addressed at the OAU level.
