This report summarizes the conclusions and recommendations from the OAU/IPA Consultation on "The OAU and Conflict Management in Africa," held in Addis Ababa from May 19-21, 1993. The consultation, prompted by the OAU Heads of State and Government's decision on a conflict prevention and management mechanism, addressing the pervasive issue of conflicts in Africa, which hinder development.
