Following the signing of the Addis Ababa Agreement in March 1993, which aimed to restore peace in Somalia, the security situation quickly deteriorated due to attacks on UN forces and civilians. OAU officials consulted with UN representatives and Somali factions to facilitate national reconciliation, urging all parties to recommit to the Addis Ababa Agreement and this report emphasizes the need for political solution and sustained international support as some member states troops planned to withdraw.
