This is a report by the Secretary-General discussing the proceedings of the Conference on Human Settlements held in Vancouver from 31 May to 11 June 1976 on the situation in human settlements in most African countries .The convened conference, affirmed that its main purpose "should be to serve as a practical means to exchange information about' solutions to problems of human settlements against a broad background of environment and formation of policies and actions by Governments and international organisations".
