Abstract

The Applicants allege the violation of the following: i) The right to equality before the law and the right to equal protection of the law, protected by Article 3(1) and (2) of the Charter and Article 26 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (hereinafter referred to as the "ICCPR"); ii) The right to equal access to the public service in their country, protected by Articles 13(2) of the Charter and 25(c) of the ICCPR; iii) The right to education protected by Article 17(1) of the Charter and Article 13(1) of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (hereinafter referred to as the "ICESCR"); iv) The right to be promoted to a higher category protected by Article 7(c) of the ICESCR.
