This is a report on the proceedings of the joint Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa(BADEA)/Organization of African Unity(OAU)/Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel(CILSS)/Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) meeting held in Rome from 20-23 June 1978, to discuss the dramatic situation which prevailed in the Sahelian region of Africa after the last drought and the contacts which took place between the OAU General Secretariat and the President of the BADEA in Khartoum in Fepruary 1978
